Contemplating evenings

I've been spending my evenings toying with landscapes. In the summer, with the long days, I can work on my still lives by natural light late into the evenings, but not so this time of year. To keep myself busy I've been painting landscapes in the evening, a few studies of dusk, a few studies of other painters' trees (in the case of the bottom two paintings, Marion Wachtel and Stephan Kolesnikov, respectively). Nothing special, just small pieces, a break from the day's still lives.

Away they go!

These babies are all dressed up and off to Lotton Gallery in search of new homes. Go visit them in Chicago!
