Yesterday I did a study of an orchid. It's been growing happily in my kitchen for weeks, and although I'd been meaning to do a study of it for a while, I hadn't. Yesterday was also the anniversary of a death of a friend. I'm sure I don't need to explain how life is rarely simple, how some anniversaries stick in our minds and hearts like glue while others fade away until we can barely remember the time of year, or what it was that really happened. Yesterday's anniversary was the glue sort. This painting is for you, Kat, in your memory.
